Please add the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge fought February 27,1776. Not only was in a victory for the patriots. The victory caused North Carolina to be the first colony to sign a Declaration of Independence from Great Britain on April 12,1776, their second attempt. Fought in what is now Pender County. The battle site is approximately 18 miles from Wilmington, NC and maintained by the National Park Service.
