A man of wealth and circumstance, Hancock's famous signature
on the document which declared our Independence will be his
permanent association with the American Revolution. He
was, however, a patriot who was widely respected by men such
as John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. He along with Samuel
Adams were the early targets of British soldiers in an
attempt to squelch the revolutionary movement which swelled
in New England in the decade preceding the Revolutionary
War.
