Total Posts: 0 There is a painting by A.M. Willard of a British soldier knocking a British officer from his horse using a "piggin" bucket, capturing the officer's sword, and swimming the Hudson River with it between his teeth to join Washington and his troops on the other side. Washington had fought with Barton's father at Fort Duquesne in the French and Indian War, and remembered him. William Barton became a lieutenant and fought in the Battles of Trenton, Princeton, Monmouth, spent a winter at Valley Forge and another at Morristown. I have a copy of this painting, which was in the possession of well-known Bruce Barton until he died and I understand the painting and sword is now in a museum. Do you know this painting and where it is now?
