Thomas Paine's influence was due mainly in part to his authoring "common sense" which spelled out the reasons why Britain's policies toward the colonies were unfair. Patrick Henry is noted for his famous speech to the Virginia Legislature when he said "Give me Liberty or give me Death". Samual Adams is noted as the person who lit the flame for the fire of independence and was also a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Ben Franklin was actively involved in the continental congress and also plaid a major role in the relations with France during the war. Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Independence and was also a member of the Continental Congress, albiet a silent member. Hope this helps
